At the Bauma exhibition in Germany in 2019, Doosan showcased for the first time an intercontinental remote control solution based on 5G. Remote control of its excavator in South Korea in Germany. The official claim is that the delay is 20ms (one-way).
The distance from Munich, Germany to South Korea is approximately 8500km, with a speed of 200000 km/s in optical fibers. Ignoring exchange delays, the shortest transmission time for the backbone network is 8.5K/200K=42.5ms. Calculate the transmitter and receiver test with a delay of 1ms for a 5G new air port, and the total delay should not be less than 44.5ms.
Despite its exaggerated claims, its achievements still surpassed other mainstream technologies at the time.
In 2019, Shandong Lingong, together with Linyi Unicom and ZTE, jointly developed a remote control excavator project based on 5G network, which was implemented at the Lingong Intelligent Mine Comprehensive Experimental Base. This project is based on China Unicom's 5G network technology, with an air port delay of 1ms, an overall control signal delay of 35ms, and a video signal delay of 300ms.
